My name is Tony and my wife Gina and I own BadLuckOverland. A little backstory on myself: I have been working on cars since I was 15 and have had all kinds- classic cars, jeeps, standard econoboxes, you name it. My passion has been primarily Jeeps but most of the offroad community has been my focus for a while. . I do the majority of the work on my rigs if I can, and try to take pride in ownership as much as possible. Some years back I joined Expedition portal and got introduced to vehicle based exploration versus the standard go out and bash your rig type stuff I was used to. Although I put fun builds on hold for a while, my mind always went back to seeing all of those rigs on the forums and wanting to build one myself has never left my mind. Fast forward a few years and I finally got a 4 door JK and set off to build it out in the “overland” style that I had originally been inspired by from the past. While building the rig, I decided to take my 8+ years of experience from my normal career in renewable energies and apply it towards this great passion I have for vehicles. I’ve always wanted to have a self sustaining rig out in the field and solar power was the way to go. This setup inspired me to start my own company/brand BadLuckOverland, so I could share this real world knowledge of solar and assist people with getting out there and enjoying overlanding with less stress about running out of power. There is a lot of mis-information about the mechanics of solar and my goal is to educate/equip anyone who wants to go down this path.
